Introduction

    Korean major was set up in 1992. In 2005, the school was proposed to become a college, and Korean became one for undergraduate students, from which there have been 6 patches of undergraduates up to now. Korean is the university key course and also was awarded as a provincial-level key specialty by Shandong Provincial Education Department. 

Objectives

    The major aims at fostering Korean talents with basic Korean knowledge and Korean competence in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, cultivating the applied students who are able to analyze and solve problems with the knowledge they have learned, and cultivating the students who are able to work in joint ventures, foreign trade companies as interpreters /translators or provide language services.

Features

     The major adheres to the principle "people foremost, virtue first, capability on the top and all-round development", and try to set up a curriculum system with the characteristic of "general education+professional knowledge+capability". 

     It attaches importance to training students' listening and speaking and their humane accomplishment and enlarging their knowledge in translation, business and office secretary to improve their language competence. 

    It focuses on practice teaching and tries to enhance students' language competence and capability of serving regional economy through combination of getting knowledge in class and practicing after class either in the International Language and Culture Practice Center or in outside training centers. 

Outlook

    Development of Korean

    As a core course in the university, Korean has been awarded as a provincial-level excellent course. We are working hard to turn it into a unique course with its own characteristics. 

    Faculty

     The Department of Korean has a well-structured Korean faculty with great teaching experience and high capability in scientific research, among whom are famous translators and scholars. They are determined to better young teachers, improving their capability in teaching and scientific research to bank excellent teachers with the help of those experienced scholars. 

    Postgraduate Study and Employment

In the past years some students have passed postgraduate entrance examination and studied in some national key universities, and some students continued their study in Korea. The department is determined to obtain achievements both in guiding students in postgraduate entrance examination and employment.
