The Education Department of Qingdao Binhai University was established in August, 2013. There are two majors: preschool education for undergraduates and preschool education for junior college students. Preschool education started from Foreign Language Department in 2004, initially known as bilingual infant school education. In 2005, the department cooperated with Canadian colleges and in the following year with Korea to build up preschool education. In 2007, the department began a research project of chinalization of Montessori theory. In 2011, it established a kindergarten affiliated with Qingdao Binhai University to innovate the preschool education personnel training mode and effectively improve the quality of preschool education students. The kindergarten is an important part of “the integration of study, research, production”. In 2012, preschool education was registered as a major for undergraduates. At the end of the same year, Qingdao Binhai University was honored as the “pilot college of applied technology reform”, which opened a road of integration construction of preschool education and the kindergarten. In 2014, the department began its cooperation with Taiwan University of education and Tzu Chi University.

 During the past years, the department accumulated plenty of teaching experience. At present, it has more than 800 students and over 30 full-time and part-time teachers. They have a wide range of theoretical knowledge, rich practical experience and better scientific research capability. The school has long invited Professor Qin Jinliang from Zhejiang Normal University, Professor Sui Xue from Liaoning Normal University, Professor Zhang Xiangkui from Northeast Normal University, Professor Xing Shaoying from Shanxi University and other experts to give lectures to the teachers for the improvement of their teaching and research abilities. Besides, the principals of other kindergartens with practical experience are also invited as long-term lecturers, who can provide support for the construction and development of the department.

    The practical teaching center has electric piano room, piano room, dance training hall, Montessori training room, psychological laboratory, physical room, art galleries and other laboratory equipment. The Education Department has established a long-term cooperative relationship with more than 20 provincial and municipal model kindergartens in the Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone. These kindergartens have superior conditions and can meet the needs of students' practical learning.

In the past two years, the teachers of preschool education have presided over and participated in more than 10 projects of different levels and various types. They have published more than 40 papers in different journals and magazines. The choruses, dances and other works under the guidance of the teachers have won many national youth talent TV show awards.
