Introduction

Information Management and Information System major, established in 2000, was authorized by the Ministry of Education to recruit undergraduates in 2006. At present, there are 298 three-year graduates and nearly 200 undergraduates. There are more than 10 full-time teachers including 2 associate professors and 6 teachers with master degree, and they all have a high level of scientific research and teaching ability. The provincial level excellent course Dreamweaver, the university-level excellent course Database Principle and Application are under construction. Experimental center of information includes Network Information Technology Laboratory and ERP Laboratory with the mainstream, advanced computer and network equipment which can provide a good practice platform for students in this major.

Objective

This major is aimed to cultivate specialized talents who master the modern management theory and information technology knowledge and have the ability of application, master the method of planning, analyzing, designing, implementing and managing the information system, have certain ability to develop information systems and information resources, and engage in the construction, maintenance, and management of information system in management departments and enterprises at all levels.

Characteristics

This major is one of the earliest bachelor’s degrees in the university. It has formed its own characteristics and advantages while developing its system. It has developed its mode “solid foundation, wide requirements and strong application”. This major strengthens basic course teaching, and the knowledge of modern management theory, information technology and computer. On the training direction, the compound talents are educated with the core of advancing the application ability, and the skills of developing and managing information system, so as to enhance students’ knowledge and ability. Attention is focused on students’ innovation. Classroom teaching is the basis, practice is the support and the second class is the expansion. This mode has gained some achievements.

Prospect

The worldwide economy connects and promotes IT. On the one hand, economic integration can’t exist alone without the construction and application of the information. If enterprises and economic organizations are not informationized, it is impossible to be in line with world interaction. On the other hand, if enterprises don’t master abundant information or make any management, the deciders of enterprise can’t make right decision. The result is the failure of the disposition of productive elements. The advanced foreign information management and application makes demonstration effect. The careers related to this major are no longer confined to enterprise decision or operation analysis. This major acts as a bond connecting family and society, individual and organization, which has become a necessary part in many fields such as finance, entertainment, education, scientific research and so on.
